Short stop in Zions

Well, we couldn't stay long, but we had fun (we had to get back to our flooded basement and our blondie came down with a fever). We had tacos for dinner, waffles for breakfast and got in 2 very windy hikes. We love having a trailer (except for driving it in the wind on the way home...took a lot longer).

On the bus/tram to hike up to weeping rock...(the kids thought riding a bus to go on a hike was pretty odd)

Our shy boy not wanting to sit by a stranger on the bus...

The family at weeping rock...look how short I am and how tall my oldest is getting...

On another hike...

Virtual Reality Ride

I couldn't believe how much my oldest actually resembled my side of the family when his eyes (those are his dad's) were covered...he looked like my nephew Ben every once in a while. It was fun to see that. (you'll want to turn down the volume on this one)

Wedding in Overton

My cousin was getting married in Mesquite, NV over the April 12th weekend and my hubby was the photographer for it. So we packed up the car, the kids and the dog, and headed south to warmer weather. We stayed in my Aunt and Uncle's backyard in our trailer we hauled along (because of our plan to go to Zions National Park on the return home trip). The kids had a great time hanging out there and playing on all the cool toys. Our youngest enjoyed

It was also the weekend of the Clark County Nevada Fair. So we took the kids over to that courtesy of tickets my uncle had. It was all really expensive and daddy was being a concerned father for the safety of his kids. So that limited the food consumption and the fair ride experience. But each of them got to choose something they wanted to do. Our 2 youngest chose the pony rides and our oldest chose the virtual reality ride. See his video in the next post. They all had a great time.

Then of course came the wedding...the kids braved it pretty well...our littlest was the Flower Girl and was absolutely adorable. She said she's getting married next year to the neighbor boy. The kids had fun playing with cousins at the wedding. And the flower girl shared her "crown" lovingly.

We had a great time!

Dinner Before Conference

My sister's family came down from Idaho for the LDS General Conference the first weekend in April, so my 2 other siblings (& their families) and us all got together with them for dinner the night before. It was great to see everyone. And luckily, the weather was nice enough that the rowdy kids could play outside (ganging up on the oldest cousin of course...what a good sport). It was good to see everyone.

My poor niece had just donated her long hair to "Locks of Love" and the lady cutting it did such a poor job just blunt cutting the ends, I fixed it up for her after dinner...just softening the ends and adding slight layers.

Getting Caught Up

Well, like many of you, I'm 3 years behind on my scrapbooks. So I'm taking this time between illustration jobs to try to get caught up. My kids LOVE looking through scrapbook albums and seeing themselves and remembering things we did together. It's a daunting task but it's made easier because I digitally scrapbook. Here's a page I just finished from 2005 that I really liked. I'm using the program iScrapbook in general to speed things up but often use Adobe Photoshop as well. My friend does BEAUTIFUL pages. Someday maybe I'll have the time to do them as well.

WINDY CITY

Just to prove how windy it is and how reliable the wind is here...(blowing from 10pm til 10 am every night)...

I can see a glimpse of these out my back window between the roofs of the houses diagonally toward the canyon. They looked so close we had to take a drive to see where they actually were. We thought they were going in closer to the mouth of the canyon...well, they were and they are...they just looked closer because they are so big. I think it's cool that they are finally putting this wind to use.
