Our 6 year old daughter has been taking music lessons in the "
Let's Play Music" program. This was her second year in the program. They first start out learning the solfeg (do, re, mi, etc.) and rhythms and intervals on a small set of bells and also learn to sing and match pitch. The second year this is expanded and they also start learning piano. I'm amazed at how much she has learned and she loves it. Here are a few shots from the evening.

Pupil and teacher.

She is so cute! I didn't know she was taking piano. I am teaching Kara a little, but I don't have extensive skills - I'm not even good enough to play for church. I know the basics though - which is working so far. I will have to get her a teacher one of these days though.
I did it for the singing AND piano combined type of lessons. I felt it'd be better than spending money on dance at this age. She loves dance too but they can catch up within a short amount of time if you wait til 8 to start dance (because of physical skills developing later). So, in the meantime, I decided to get her started on music. I taught the boys piano for a bit but after a few years, I need to switch them to a real teacher b/c it's not as effective with me teaching (as their attitudes develop).
Great job Adelaide. We enjoyed the program. You looked like a princess.
The program sounds like a nice approach to teaching music. You'll need to post a video of her playing sometime.
